| Walachia | | Walachia is the historical region of Romania that shelters Bucharest, its capital. It covers approximately the South third of the country. It is delimited on its North border by the Southern Carpathian Mountains and on South by the Danube. From the 14th to the 17th century, the princely citadel of Curtea de Arges was the capital of "Tara Romaneasca" ("the Romanian country"). Today this city with Ottoman influences shelters the vestiges of one of the oldest churches of the country. |
