Piatra Craiului and Bucegi's mountains, are two of the most amazing Romanian mountains. Their easy access didn't affect their wilderness, that's why we invite you to discover their rich fauna and flora, warm clearings and spectacular landscapes. Human activities and history will also be there, sheepfolds and fortress will be waiting for you.
Program
Day 1 Reception in Bucharest The trip starts in Bucharest. Arrival before 2PM. If you arrive by plane take the bus to the train station and then train to Zarnesti (change in Brasov).
Day 2 Zarnesti Gorges Walk in Piatra Craiului ("King's Rock) mountains and fascinating Zarnesti Gorges. These gorges, called by locals "The Abysses", have 200 m high vertical walls and offer, especially during autumn, colours of an extraordinary variety. Night in a traditional village of Piatra Craiului mountains. (around 4h, 13km, +700m, -300m)
Day 3 Scattered villages Today you will continue the walk at the feet of the Piatra Craiului Mountains in this bucolic landscape in the middle of pastures, sheepfolds and woods. You will cross scattered villages which seem not to care about time passing. (around 4h30, 14km, +300m, -250m)
Day 4 From Piatra Craiului to Bucegi Leave Piatra Craiului mountains and head to Bucegi mountains. End of the day in Bran village where you can visit the Bran fortress, long time promoted as Dracula castle. (around 4h30, 13km, +350m, -550m) Optional private transfer (13km) to visit Rasnov fortress.
Day 5 End of the journey Breakfast and transfer to Bucharest. End of the trip.
